MetaScholars Program
Experience Design
2022
UX UI Facilitator

Scope
Design and facilitate an interactive learning experience for the MetaScholars Program, aimed at equipping HBCU students with foundational skills in UX/UI design, emerging technologies like the Metaverse and Web 3.0, and practical experience in digital product development through live workshops, mentorship, and project-based challenges.
Process
Led the creation of a UX/UI learning track by designing curriculum modules, Figma workshops, and experience challenges tailored to student needs. Conducted user research through bi-monthly student feedback sessions, pre- and post-assessments, and iterative interviews to identify learning barriers and optimize content delivery. Developed onboarding materials for VR-based collaboration and introduced gamification elements through the FX Challenge system to increase engagement. Acted as a mentor and judge for final pitch presentations, while continuously refining the program based on real-time student input and collaboration with virtual teams.
Solution
The MetaScholars Program successfully introduced over 300 HBCU students to UX/UI design principles, design thinking processes, and emerging technology tools. The dynamic curriculum and interactive VR sessions increased student engagement and confidence, with several participants advancing into tech internships and entrepreneurial ventures. The integration of real-world design challenges, VR onboarding, and accessibility improvements contributed to a more inclusive, impactful, and future-forward educational experience.
